This test method is designed to determine the amount of color transferred from the surface of colored textile materials to other surfaces by rubbing. It is applicable to textiles made from all fibers in the form of yarn or fabric whether dyed, printed or otherwise colored. ASTM D6279.
The test shall generally be carried out on test pieces which are of the same material with identical surface treatment of which finished furniture consists and are large enough to correspond with the test requirements. The test shall be carried out on unused surfaces. The standard specifies the most important parameters for the test/assessment and the conditions for classification of the results.

The Taber abrasion test is very effective and is the most common test method when evaluating the abrasion resistance of the coating on the matrix.
